Review on Fresh Light Sugar Ash Foam Hairdye

Hello everyone,
As promised, I will do a review on the Fresh Light Sugar Ash Foam Hairdye.

Below is my hair before the colouring. I recently took out my extension and cut it short again. You can see the roots are black and the bottom part has a little bit of black showing. So I thought, what a perfect time to try out the new hair dye kit I bought.

So before using this foam hairdye from fresh light, I actually went on to bleach my hair little bit with the Gatsby bleaching kit. Because I wanted the colour to show more, I decided that I needed lighter base on my hair.

The picture below shows the post-application of the foam formula.

These pictures show the result. I am not too satisfied with the result. Because although I've bleached my hair to a dark blonde hair, the result is still darker than I thought. However, what I like about this is my hair is very ashy in real life especially under the sun.

With artificial fluorescent lighting

with regular white lightbulb

With a bit of sunlight

After thought: THIS HAIR DYE DRIPS like crazzzzzzy~ I had to shorten the process to 15 minutes because it was dripping all over my towel and my neck! OMGOSH... Although the colour choices are nice (cuz of my love for ashy hair), I would definitely not use this again. I actually found the cream formula much better, at least it doesn't drip like this one. BUT I do have to state the fact that cuz my hair is short, it actually promotes the dripping to happen. Maybe if you have long hair and then wrap it with plastic wrap, it won't drip as much. But overall, I would only give it a 2/5 for the crazy dripping and the inconsistent result to the hair colour chart shown on its packaging / official website.

Korean idol group SECRET's Ji Eun's new hair

Honestly, I am digging this hair colour: Turquoise blue with purple highlights. But can I pull off a hair colour like this? Probably, however, thats not the major point. The thing is, I am no celebrity and if I carry such hair when I go out, I will for sure grab a lot of unwanted attention. It would be annoying to have all eyes on me and I don't like that honestly. I guess thats the only fun part of being a celebrity because you can change your hair to any colour you want and not worrying about looking like a freak.

So instead of going blue, I bought a hairdye to go GREY... but I won't be using it until I take out my extensions next month. By then, I will post a review on the results =D

Fall 2011 ICE QUEEN by Alexander McQueen

Sarah Burton, who designed these breathe-taking dresses, claimed she was thinking of "strong, noble and romantically powerful."

Figured that Alexander McQueen was a genius for the fashion industry, Sarah Burton has did an excellent job in taking over Alexander's line. They share the very similar style: edgy and powerful. These dresses are so nice that I want to owe every single one of them. I could possibly wear one of these for my future wedding (in which I do not know when). But Alexander McQueen collections never disappoints.

Big Bang X Uniqlo

Yes, I could have been soo outdated with this post (but hey, I don't go to uniqlo that often). Anyways, I was surfing around in uniqlo on a chillaxing friday afternoon. Finally no classes TONIGHT! Then, I spotted some tees with "BIGBANG SHOW" on it. I thought they have something to do with the real big bang theory. But as I walked closer, there was a picture of bigbang hanging beside the rows of tees! WOOHOO~ I then did a little dance and screamed a little. LOL~ I guess I got too carried away for a sec coz of the sudden appearance of BigBang. I have recently became very fond of Daesung and JiYong. (SMell! let's smell!) But I was dragged away after because I was late for dinner reservation. SO this is the little surprise I got today.

When I went today, there was only 5 tee styles left, and only the grey hoodie is left. The black ones are gone already. I should have got one at least, but they are for men... ROAR~

POTD1 - Purchase of the day 1

Alright. So I will start my first POTD (not photo of the day but instead purchase of the day). If I buy more than two beauty items, I will do one POTD. But I purchase less than two items, I will gather a bunch of stuff before doing one.

SO! today, I made a trip to fresh, kiehl's and NARS. Before heading to the stores, I already had in mind what I need to get. Recently, the impulse shopping genes have left me. I usually make a purchase after many many days or even weeks of consideration unless it's an essential item which I need to get. Below shows the purchase I've made today =D

With the face cleanser and the moisturizer, I can only give a review probably after a few or even a month of usage. Since my skin might give a reaction to the new products, so it's better for me to give a review after some time so my opinions can be unbiased.

The lip colour I chose is 3506 VERSUVIO which is a matte classic red. The reason why I chose a matte formula is my love for matte colours. There is no specific reason why. I like matte because of its low profile outlook, but yes, I am kind of contradicting myself here because this is a very bold red. But I've always wanted to get a red lipstick but I didn't want to make it too out-spoken. So I went for matte ones.

The above pictures have been photoshopped so the colours are true to the original.

BBB - Blemish Balm Battle

Today's topic is BB cream. I have only tried three different types of BB cream, and all of them are originated from Korea. Although it is claimed that BB cream has become a great alternative for foundation, I believe that foundation is still better coverage-wise and function-wise. Also, I tend to have more break outs with consecutive usage of bb cream.

There are research claiming that bb cream having a tendency to clog pores for some people and I happen to be one of them. There are also cosmetologists who do not recommend bb cream because they say it takes double the time and double the amount of makeup remove for a thorough removal of bb cream than regular liquid foundation. I am not saying that you should at all eliminate using bb cream; however, I do not recommend consecutive usage. Probably once every few days when you are feeling lazy and do not want to do a full face foundation. And when you do use bb cream, be sure to remove thoroughly to avoid break out.

I will be introducing three types of bb cream in this post.
1. Skin 79 Diamond Collection BB
2. Gowoonsesang Hydra Intensive Blemish Balm
3. Dr. G Beyond Young Bling Bling Cream (which I have introduced in a former post)

As you can see from the above picture, Dr. G Beyond Young Bling Bling Cream gives a pinker shade while Skin79 giving a darker shade. Hydra Intensive BB on the other hand gives a matte and more natural result.

Just like its name, bling bling cream contains a tiny amount of glitter in which gives a shimmering effect under sunlight. This bb cream will make your skin look younger and richer because of its shimmering result. I personally think this formula is better for summertime since it's quite dry but it's tolerable.

The hydra intensive BB is great for wintertime because it makes sure your skin is moisturized. I like this bb cream because the smell is pleasant and it gives a great natural look with good coverage. However, I got very oily with this bb cream.

The Skin79 BB Diamond - I totally do not recommend. The smell is gross. My forehead and nose area become greasy very fast. The shade is too dark for me. I just do not recommend. But this formula is the most watery one out of the three which made blending so much easier.

Review on Chanel foundation compact & concealer

Hello, I am going to do a review on a recent purchase of concealer and powder foundation compact. They are both from Chanel.

The foundation Compact comes with a brush and a sponge. It says that the brush will give a translucent result where as the sponge application will give a natural coverage result. Therefore, usually what I do is use a sponge to apply to areas where I've applied concealer then use the brush to lightly apply the foundation onto the remaining part of the face. I've been using this compact for a week already. Before I used the loose powder by bobbi brown which cracks occasionally under the eye area because my under-eye area tend to dehydrate faster (just like everyone else). However, this compact from chanel can actually keep my under eye area wrinkle-free for hours. Also, the powder is fine enough to give good coverage. I would totally recommend it. For previous times, I've tried the foundation compact from Armani, shisedo and bobbi brown. This one is by far the best I've used. I am paler asian, so I was recommended to use the B10 Beige which is the 2nd lightest shade in the chanel collection.

So moving onto the Lift Lumière Eye Contour Concealer from Chanel. I have to give it a HAPPY FACE =D. This concealer is natural looking. Although its coverage isn't as good as the concealing kit I've used previously from bobbi brown, this concealer is a water based formula which makes blending easier. However, the downside to water based formulas is the time and skills it takes to apply it. This concealer is in a more liquidy form whereas most concealer sold on markets are creamy; therefore, when you first apply it, I recommend you to apply a thin layer first with a brush and wait for it to dry, then apply another layer with a brush then blend it out with your ring finger.  This will give better coverage. This is a good formula for asian I think because the shade has more yellow to it which gives a more natural shading to asians. I know all about having a paler or whiter under eye when the concealer is too creamy (harder to blend) and a more paler shade. Neglect the fact that I am pale as an asian, I am still asian so there is always some yellowness in me. However, I do not know if other parts of the world are selling the same shades as in Hong Kong. But you can always check with the makeup artists at the counter and have them try out different shades for you.

So this is the longest review I've written in quite a while. Next time, I will be doing a review on 3 of the bb creams I've used.
